Ukrainian Night Another Huge Success Despite Kings Loss

(VIDEOS BELOW)

DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings came out strong but a bad second period did them in in a 7-4 loss to the Winnipeg Blues Saturday at Ukrainian Night!

The Kings opened the scoring just 3:55 into the contest when Matt Bartel notched his fifth of the season. However Winnipeg scored three straight after that to take a 3-1 advantage into the second period.

The middle frame was all the Blues as they scored three more to take a 6-1 advantage into the final frame.

Dauphin showed life in the last 20 minutes, outscoring the Blues 3-1 but it wasn't enough as the club would fall short 7-4. Ian Briscoe (2), Mason Fischer (4) and Kyle Oleksiuk (11) would tally for the Kings in the third period.

Ian had the best night of the Dauphin forwards, notching a goal and two assists in the game.

Brennan Kitchen started the game but did not finish. He stopped 22 of 28 shots he faced. Justin Anderson replaced Kitchen in the third period and turned aside 4 of 5 shots. Dauphin had 42 shots on the Winnipeg net.

Winnipeg had two goals on the man advantage Saturday while the Kings failed to score on the Power Play.

The loss puts Dauphin at 11-34-2 on the season. They'll get a week off before returning to action on Friday when they welcome they Waywayseecappo Wolverines to Credit Union Place. Game time is 7:30pm!
