DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings heavily out shot the Swan Valley Stampeders and had quality chances, but couldn't bury them in a 5-2 loss Saturday night at Credit Union Place for Ukrainian Night.
In front of a sold out crowd Dauphin fell behind early, giving up the game's first goal less than two minutes in. The club would respond quickly though, when Kaden Bryant picked up his third of the campaign. Swan Valley would fire back quickly though, tallying twice before the end of the frame to make it 3-1.
In the second the Kings continued their strong play, but again couldn't put anything on the scoreboard. They out shot the Stampeders 19-8 in the frame, but fell behind 4-1 going into the third.
Brayden Pawluk (4) would give the Kings life late in the game and Avery Smith hit a crossbar right after, but Swan Valley added an empty net to make it a 5-2 final.
Both teams failed to score on the man advantage Saturday. Dauphin was 0 for 4 while Swan Valley finished 0 for 3.
Levi Mitchell took the loss in goal for the Kings, turning aside 30 of 34 shots while his team had a healthy 47 shots on the Stampeders goal.
The loss puts Dauphin at 21-19-3-2 on the season. They'll look for a bounce back game on Wednesday when they visit the Stampeders in Swan River for the final time this season. Game time is 7:30pm! The next Kings home game happens on Tuesday February 4th when the Winkler Flyers pay a visit.
