Smith, Kings Shut Out Melville

DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings scored seven goals and Matthias Smith stopped all 28 shots he faced as Kings rolled to a 7-0 victory over the SJHL's Melville Millionaires Monday night at Credit Union Place.

Dauphin got started early when Cole DeKoninck scored 5:27 into the opening period. His team would add two more before the end of the first. Carter Eha and Leeam Tivers were the other scorers for Dauphin.

The Kings continued their scoring in the second with four goals. Nakodan Greyeyes, Braeden Young, Avery Smith and Carter Eha added to Dauphin's total which stayed that way through the final frame.

In the third period things got interesting with a few fighting and roughing penalties. None of it phased goaltender Matthias Smith as he continued his strong play. By the end of the night he turned away all 28 shots he faced. The Kings fired 37 shots at the Melville goal Monday.

Power Plays had the Kings going 1 for 3 while Melville was 0 for 6.

Dauphin improves to 3-2-0 in exhibition play. They'll close out their pre season on Friday when they welcome the Neepawa Natives to Credit Union Place. Game time is 7:30pm!
