Natives Slip By Kings

DAUPHIN, MB - For the second straight game the Dauphin Kings out played the Neepawa Natives but couldn't finish on their chances, falling 2-1 at Credit Union Place.

Dauphin jumped out and had some early chances in the first period, but it was Neepawa who were able to notch two goals on Kings netminder Zach Grouette. When the first period came to an end the Kings trailed 2-0 but out shot Neepawa 18-11.

In the middle frame the Kings continued their strong play and were finally rewarded for it when Austin Lamotte tallied his first MJHL goal. Koby Morrisseau grabbed his first MJHL assist on the play while Carter Sawchuk had the other assist. The second period had Dauphin out shooting Neepawa 10-6.

There were no goals in the final frame but numerous scoring chances for the Kings, but they were unable to finish.

In the end the final shots ended up being 35-27 for the Kings. Zach Grouette suffered the loss in goal for Dauphin.

Power plays saw the Kings end up 0 for 3 while Neepawa was 1 for 3.

Dauphin's record adjusts to 3-6-0-1 on the season. The Kings will look to rebound on TV Tuesday when they entertain the Selkirk Steelers at Credit Union Place. Game time is slated for 7:30pm!
