DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings had their best start of the season, scoring five goals in the opening period en route to an 11-2 victory over the Selkirk Steelers on TV Tuesday.

The Kings scored twice in the second and four times in the third for the decision.

Carter Sawchuk treated the fans to a career night. The Brandon product mixed in four goals and an assist for a five point night. Other big point getters Tuesday night included Cole DeKoninck (3A), Austin Lamotte (4A), Nakodan Greyeyes (1G, 2A), Kadin Ilott (1G, 2A), Koby Morrisseau (2G, 3A) and Baron Thompson (1G, 3A).

Noah Wagner notched his first MJHL goal in the second period and then picked up his second of the night in the third. The other scorer was Nakodan Greyeyes (6).

Matthias Smith grabbed the win in goal for the Kings. He turned away 20 of the 22 shots he faced while his team fired 55 on the Selkirk net.

Dauphin's Special Teams were excellent Tuesday. They went 3 for 3 on the man advantage and 2 for 2 on the penalty kill.

The Kings can now breathe a sigh of relief as it seems their puck luck fortunes may have changed for the good in Tuesday's game.

Dauphin improves to 4-6-0-1 on the season and will look to close out their current three game home stand on a high when they battle the Winnipeg Blues Saturday night. Game time at Credit Union Place is 7:30pm!
