DAUPHIN, MB – The Dauphin Kings put forth a better effort Friday night at Credit Union Place, but it wasn’t enough as the team dropped a 7-3 decision to the Winkler Flyers.

The first 40 minutes for the most part were solid for the Kings. It was a three minute span at the end of the second that saw Winkler score three times and pull away for the victory.

The Kings got goals from Trevor Kavanaugh (1), Kyle Oleksiuk (3) and Darren Gisti (1 – First MJHL Goal).

Brandon Holtby surrendered the loss between the pipes for Dauphin. He gave up five goals on 24 shots before being replaced at the start of the third period by Tanner Douglas. Douglas stopped 15 of 17 shots. The Kings had 28 shots total Friday night.

Dauphin’s Power Play looked very strong throughout the night. They ended the evening 2 for 5 while the Winkler Flyers went 2 for 4.

The outcome sends the Kings to a 1-5-0 record on the season. They’ll look to redeem themselves Saturday night when they hit the road to battle the Virden Oil Capitals at Tundra Oil & Gas Place. Game time is 7:30pm!

It was a strong attendance of 641 Friday night. The Kings thank you for the support.
