Kings Lose 6-5 To Wayway

DAUPHIN, MB - For the third straight game the Dauphin Kings had a shot at coming away with two points but failed to get the job done in a 6-5 loss to the Waywayseecappo Wolverines.

Dauphin came out flying in the opening period and scored three goals. Riley Shamray got the first one just over one minute in. The Wolverines would even things up a few minutes later. Then Grady Hobbs found the puck in the slot and potted it home to give Dauphin a 2-1 advantage. Just over a minute and a half later Riese Gaber would score to put the Kings ahead 3-1. The Wolverines would get the game to within one later in the period.

The middle frame saw the Kings go up by two after 40 minutes. Matt Bartel and Thomas Hansell both tallied for Dauphin. Hansell's goal was his second in as many contests since joining the club a week and a half ago in a trade with OCN.

In the third period the Kings once again got into some penalty trouble and allowed Wayway to score three unanswered, one on the man advantage, to take the tilt 6-5.

Brennan Kitchen played all 60 minutes for the Kings. He stopped 38 of the 44 shots he faced while his team launched 41 on the Waywayseecappo net.

Power Play saw both teams hitting the score sheet. Dauphin was 1 for 1 while Wayway was 1 for 2.

The loss sends the Kings to a record of 5-21-2 on the season. Now they'll head out on the road this weekend for two games. It starts on Saturday when the group heads south to Winkler to battle the Flyers. After Saturday Dauphin is in Winnipeg to tangle with the Blues before returning to Credit Union Place next Tuesday night against the OCN Blizzard.
