Kings Introduce New Trophy Cabinet

DAUPHIN, MB - For years the Dauphin Kings' trophies have been spread out around the city, some being in storage and some being in other locations around town. Now all the Junior A Hockey Club's trophies have come home to Credit Union Place.

Construction wrapped up in early January and now the trophies are on full time display for everyone to see.

"It was important to get this done" says Kings Director of Marketing & Media Relations Christian Laughland. "The trophies have a lot of history and deserve a lot of respect. Until now they weren't getting that respect. Now people can view them at games, tournaments and other events inside Credit Union Place" he added.

The Kings' trophies, some of which have 50 years of history and players on them, can be seen between the bar and ladies washroom in Credit Union Place. The same spot where the Kings used to sell their Tractor Lotto tickets and sign people up for season tickets at the end of February. The cabinet even includes the old Sher-Wood Division Championship Trophy, which the Kings were the last team to win before the MJHL moved to a one division system five years ago.

"I've already seen many people looking at the trophies, reading the names on them, it's nice to see that. The next thing we need to do is get some good lighting in there so the awards can really stand out" says Laughland.

The Kings would like to thank Parkland Custom Cabinetry and Hometown Auto Glass for donating and helping construct the cabinet this winter!
