Kings head south

Fans had to wait five months for the Dauphin Kings to play the Niverville Nighthawks, but if you’re a Kings fan, Friday night didn’t provide much to cheer about.

In a 5-2 loss, the Kings struggled out of the gate and it took the team 40 minutes to find their feet. On Sunday afternoon, the team will look to bounce back as they complete a home-and-home with the newest team in the league.

For the first time, Dauphin heads to Niverville for a matinee with the fourth-place team in the MGEU East Division. The Nighthawks are led by Josh Paulhus who has 48 points, 24 of which are goals. He isn’t there only weapon; however, as they possess a dynamic roster that is filled with players that can put the puck in the back of the net.

Despite Friday’s loss, Dauphin still sits in a tie for first in the West Division and they are the only team in the division playing today, which means they could sit atop alone with even a single point.

Dauphin will be looking for their ninth win on the road this season as for the most part, the team has lacked consistency when playing away from Credit Union Place, but they will look to correct that with just more than a month left in the regular season.

You can hear Sunday’s game with Darnell Duff on 730CKDM and you can also watch it on HockeyTV.
