Kings Hammer Blizzard In OCN

THE PAS, MB - The Dauphin Kings scored two in the first, three in the second and three more in the third en route to a 8-3 decision over the OCN Blizzard Sunday night.

Dauphin opened the scoring just over two minutes into the game when Baron Thompson (12) ripped a dart on the power play. The Kings would continue their strong play the rest of the first period and get another goal when Hugo Laflamme (3) notched one on the man advantage as well.

In the second period the Blizzard scored early to cut the Kings' lead in half but Dauphin would quiet the OCN faithful when Koby Morrisseau (4, 5) tallied twice in seven minutes to make it a 4-1 affair. Grady Hobbs (7) then made it 5-1, once again on the power play. The Blizzard would make it 5-2 before the end of the period.

The final frame saw the Kings wipe away the Blizzard with three more goals. Thompson (13), Brendan Arnold (3) and Cole DeKoninck (6) all got in on the action. OCN would score once in the period.

The Kings' man advantage was very good Sunday, going 4 for 6 while their penalty kill went 5 for 6.

Matthias Smith was very good between the pipes for the Kings. He stopped 35 of 38 shots while his team launched 34 on the OCN goal.

The win extends the Kings' point streak to seven games and improves their record to 8-6-1-2 on the season. They'll see their next action on TV Tuesday when they entertain Wayway at Credit Union Place. The game is presented by Norwex in Dauphin and goes at 7:30pm!
