STEINBACH, MB - For the second straight game the Dauphin Kings battled back from a third period deficit to grab a point, this time in a 3-2 shootout loss to the Steinbach Pistons Friday night.
Dauphin started a little flat and found themselves behind 1-0 late in the third period when Steinbach opened the scoring.
The Kings would respond in the second period but it wouldn't be until the final minute when Nakodan Greyeyes (9) found a loose puck and buried it on the Dauphin man advantage.
In the third period the Pistons came out hard and were rewarded in the opening two minutes when they made it a 2-1 contest. The Kings would battle and start to control the play in the middle part of the period. Then with just under five minutes left Grady Hobbs (6) was set up nicely by Baron Thompson to tie it up, again on the power play.
The Kings would have a number of opportunities in overtime but couldn't finish on those chances. Then in the shootout Nakodan Greyeyes scored but it wasn't enough as the Pistons scored twice to win the breakaway contest.
Dauphin's power play continues to be hot. It went 2 for 6 Friday while their penalty kill was 3 for 3.
