SWAN RIVER, MB - The Dauphin Kings showed signs of fatigue in their fourth game in five night but were able to come back from a 2-0 deficit and earn a point in a 3-2 OT loss to the Swan Valley Stampeders Wednesday.
The Kings fell behind 1-0 in the opening period and then 2-0 in second before finding their game midway through the second and starting the comeback. Baron Thompson tallied his 11th of the campaign when he scored at the 6:29 mark of the period.
In the final frame Dauphin continued their solid play and eventually Nakodan Greyeyes was rewarded with his 8th of the year to send the game to overtime.
Greyeyes' (8G, 16A) two points Wednesday night put him as the top scorer in the MJHL with 24 points. Baron Thompson (11G, 11A) is now tied for second with 22 points.
Zach Grouette played solid in goal for the Kings, turning away 41 of 44 shots while his team fired 27 on the Stampeder net, most of them coming in the final period.
Both teams had four power plays on Wednesday. Dauphin was 0 for 4 while Swan Valley finished 1 for 4.
Dauphin's record slips to 7-6-1-1 on the season with the OT loss. They continue to hold down 8th in the overall standings. Three points ahead of OCN and one behind Virden.
Next up for the Kings is a tilt with the Steinbach Pistons on Friday. The game is a make up affair after the Thanksgiving weekend storm which cut across southern Manitoba. Game time is slated for 7:30pm!
