Kings Continue To Score, Beat Virden 7-4

DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings continued their strong scoring pace Tuesday night at Credit Union Place, beating the Virden Oil Capitals 7-4.

Dauphin didn't open the scoring on TV Tuesday, they fell behind 1-0 in the opening period but then scored four unanswered. Their first came from Baron Thompson (8) off a set play on a face off in the Virden zone. Dauphin's second goal came off the stick of Nakodan Greyeyes (7) when he snapped a shot in the high slot home to give the Kings a 2-1 advantage after 20 minutes.

In the second period the Kings continued to score with both Grady Hobbs (5) & Carter Sawchuk (8) getting in on the action. Virden would add one to make it a 4-2 affair heading to the third.

The final frame was the tale of two teams. Virden would come back to tie things up at four. The Kings would respond, scoring three after that. Baron Thompson (9) would score to make it a 5-4 game, then Koby Morrisseau (3) spanked one home to give the Kings a 6-4 lead. Thompson (10) would add an empty netter to cap it off and earn a hatrick. With three point nights Greyeyes (1G, 2A) and Thompson (3G) are tied for first and third respectively in MJHL scoring.

Matthias Smith picked up his fourth straight win between the pipes for the Kings. He turned aside 31 of 35 shots while his team fired 31 on the Virden net.

Dauphin's power play continues to roll. It was 2 for 6 on the night while the Oil Capitals were 2 for 5.

The win is Dauphin's fourth straight and puts them at 7-6-0-1 on the season. The decision moves them into sole possession of 8th in the MJHL Standings.

No rest for the Kings though, they'll visit the Swan Valley Stampeders Wednesday night. Game time at the Centennial Arena is slated for 7:30pm!
