Kings Drop 4-1 Loss To Swan Valley

SWAN RIVER, MB – The Dauphin Kings had a number of defensive breakdowns and it cost them in a 4-1 loss to the Swan Valley Stampeders Saturday afternoon.

The Kings gave up four unanswered to Swan Valley before notching their own. It started in the opening period when the Stampeders got on the board halfway through the frame. In the second Swan Valley scored three more to pad their lead. Dauphin’s lone goal came in the final period when Austin Douglas scored his third of the season. Keaton Leininger and Graeme Hore had the assists.

At one point in the middle stanza the Stampeders had five man advantages to Dauphin’s zero. By the end of the game the Kings finished 0 for 3 on the Power Play while Swan Valley was 1 for 6.

Matteo Esposito made his debut for the Kings Saturday, he played well and couldn’t be faulted on any of the goals against. You could argue Esposito kept the score down for Dauphin. In the end he stopped 21 of 25 shots while the Kings outshot Swan Valley with 28 on the Stampeder goal.

The loss sends Dauphin to 2-13-2 on the season. They’ll get another shot at the Stampeders on Tuesday when the two clubs meet again in Swan River, this time in the evening. Puck drop is slated for 7:30pm.
