Flyers Double Up Kings

DAUPHIN, MB – The Dauphin Kings stuck with the Winkler Flyers all night but couldn’t reel them in in the end in a 4-2 loss Friday night at Credit Union Place.

After the Flyers snagged a 1-0 advantage in the first three minutes Riese Gaber got the Kings back on even terms three minutes later with his fourth of the campaign. Winkler, however, would notch two more in the opening period.

In the second Dauphin made it a one goal affair when Ashton Clark picked up his eighth of the year and first as a King! Unfortunately Winkler snagged another tally 25 second later to go back up by two.

The two teams traded chances in the final frame but no goals were scored.

Other point getters for the Kings Friday were Keaton Leininger (2A) and Graeme Hore (1A).

Brandon Holtby took the loss in goal for Dauphin. He stopped 32 of 36 shots while the Kings fired 31 shots on the Winkler net.

Power Plays had the Kings going 1 for 3 on the evening while Winkler finished 0 for 2. With the loss Dauphin is now 2-12-2 on the season.

For now the Kings will head home and get some rest, it’s a quick turnaround for the club as they get set to tangle with the Swan Valley Stampeders Saturday afternoon at 2:00pm. For more details on the affair be sure to check back here in the morning!
