Kings Drop 3-1 Decision In Wayway

WAYWAYSEECAPPO, MB - No goals on the power play and a lack of finish cost the Dauphin Kings in a 3-1 loss Friday night to the Wolverines in Waywayseecappo.

Dauphin had nine power play opportunities Friday night including a lengthy 5-on-3 but they couldn't capitalize.

Both teams had chances in the opening period but there was no score after 20 minutes. Dauphin led the shot clock 15-6.

In the second Dauphin heavily outplayed the Wolverines, outshooting them 19-7 but they couldn't find the back of the net. Wayway, meanwhile, tallied twice. Once on the man advantage and once shorthanded.

The Kings continued to play well in the third period, and late in the frame Charles Massey (3) was rewarded shorthanded to make it a 2-1 game. The Wolverines would score an empty netter to put the contest away a few moments later.

Shots were heavily in favour of Dauphin as the Kings out shot the Wolverines 47-23. Matthias Smith took the loss between the pipes, turning aside 20 of the 22 shots he faced.
