DAUPHIN, MB - Another good response after a loss by the Dauphin Kings Saturday night, this time they beat the Wayway Wolverines 5-1 at Credit Union Place.

Unlike Friday the Kings were able to bury their chances, and last year's MJHL MVP led the way, scoring three times.

Grady Hobbs (3) opened the scoring in the first period when he capitalized off a brutal Wayway turnover in the Wolverine zone. Then later in the frame Austin Lamotte (3) pounced on a chunky rebound, giving the Kings some insurance.

The second period was a quiet one with just one goal, Grady Hobbs (4) notched his second of the night off a nice setup from Vincent Nardone.

In the third period the Wolverines made it a two goal tilt but Charles (4) would notch an empty netter for Dauphin. It was the Quebecer's fourth goal in his last three games. After Wayway put their goaltender back between the pipes Hobbs (5) would snap his third of the night home to put the game away.

Matthias Smith was excellent in goal, stopping 41 of the 42 shots he faced while the Kings fired 34 on the Wayway goal.

The officials treated the Wolverines to five power plays Saturday. They scored on one. Dauphin had just one man advantage in the affair.

The win puts the Kings at 2-2-0-0 on the season. They'll now regroup, practice and get set for a new four game set. This time it will be with the OCN Blizzard and it begins Friday at the GLMC followed by a Saturday night tilt in Dauphin on Saturday.
