DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings scored three goals in the first period and didn't look back Sunday in a 4-2 victory over the Neepawa Natives at Credit Union Place.
Dauphin capitalized on early Power Play opportunities, scoring once on the man advantage, but adding another right after a penalty expired in the opening frame. All of the Kings' goals came from the back end in the first 20 minutes. Matt Boren, Jaxon Heeney & Riley Shamray all tallied for the Kings.
In the second period Neepawa was out shot 16-10 but got the frame's only marker on the man advantage to make it a two goal affair.
In the third period the Kings put the game away when Jaymes Knee finished off a nice passing play for the Kings on the Power Play.
Danny Pion continued his strong play for Dauphin Sunday. Although he didn't score, Pion added two assists to stretch his point streak to five games (4G, 7A).
Brennan Kitchen took the win between the pipes for the Kings. He pushed aside 39 of 41 shots while the Kings fired 46 on the Neepawa net.
Both teams had two goals on seven tries on the man advantage.
The win improves Dauphin's record to 8-23-2 on the season, but the schedule does not get any easier for the club. They'll get one day off before hitting the road for three straight. Next up is the MJHL Showcase. The Kings play the Winnipeg Blues at the Bell MTS Iceplex in Winnipeg at 3:00pm on Tuesday.
