DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings scored their Teddy Bear Toss goal just over three minutes into the game, but that's all the momentum they would have in a 8-2 loss to the Virden Oil Capitals Friday night at Credit Union Place!
To no surprise it was Danny Pion who scored the Kings Teddy Bear Toss goal 3:08 into the opening frame. Pion tallied with the lone assist going to former Oil Cap McCullough Park.
After the opening goal it was all Virden as the Oil Capitals scored eight unanswered goals to go up 4-1 after 20 minutes and 8-1 after 40.
The Kings would score the only goal of the third period when Jaxon Heeney banged home a rebound off a Bradyn Smelski shot. Danny Pion had the other assist on the Heeney marker.
Brennan Kitchen started the game Friday but didn't finish, stopping 25 of 32 shots along the way. Justin Anderson replaced Kitchen in the second period and stopped 18 of 19.
Dauphin was unable to score on the man advantage Friday night while Virden tallied twice.
The loss moves Dauphin to 7-23-2 on the regular season. They'll look to bounce back Sunday night when they welcome the Neepawa Natives to Credit Union Place. NOTE THE EARLY START TIME: 4:00pm! The Tractor Lotto Draw will also take place during Sunday's game!
