Kings Continue Point Streak

DAUPHIN, MB – The Dauphin Kings scored four goals in the third period en route to a 6-3 victory over the Waywayseecappo Wolverines Tuesday night.

The victory is Dauphin’s third in their last four games and extends their point streak to four straight contests.

The opening period saw Dauphin come out flying. At one point the Kings led in shots 9-0, but after the club got their first goal from Brett Piper (2) the Wolverines notched two straight to take the lead after 20 minutes.

In the second period the Kings played well and Daniel Chartrand slid home his fourth of the season. The goal was the only one of the middle frame.

The final period saw Dauphin take over. Luddi Adamsen scored his first with the Kings in his first game in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League. The Wolverines quickly responded but then Dauphin got goals from Graeme Hore (6), Matt Bartel (1) and Riese Gaber (7) to finish Wayway off 6-3.

It was a feel good moment in the stands when Matt Bartel scored his first of the year as his family made the trip up from Brandon, Florida to witness the goal. Bartel was named the tilt’s first star, Riese Gaber was second and Wayway’s Brandon Stanley was third.

Brandon Holtby (4-8) won his third straight game between the pipes. He stopped 28 of 31 shots while the Kings fired 39 on the Wolverines goal.

The win puts Dauphin at 5-15-3 on the season and now they’ll get set for a test on the road with games in Winnipeg (Friday) and Selkirk (Saturday) this weekend.
