WINKLER, MB - The Winkler Flyers took advantage of a depleted Dauphin Kings lineup Saturday night, beating the club 8-2.

Dauphin's first two periods weren't too bad despite missing a handful of regulars from their lineup. Austin Lamotte, Nakodan Greyeyes, Andrew Liwiski & Landon Russell were all out going into the contest.

The first period saw the Kings open the scoring for the second straight night when Grady Hobbs notched his 22nd of the campaign.

Winkler would even things up in the second period and send the game to the final frame knotted at one a piece.

The Kings finally got their first power play of the night in the third and Baron Thompson (15) was rewarded after making a nice tip in front. After that the flood gates opened and Winkler would score seven unanswered to take the game 8-2.

Matthias Smith suffered the loss in goal, stopping 34 of 42 shots while his team had 22 on the Winkler goal.

The Kings were also without the services of Brayden Pawluk and Cordell Coleman who were both lost to fighting penalties in the second period.

Dauphin finished the night 1 for 2 on the power play while the Flyers were 1 for 4.

The loss puts the Kings at 16-13-3-2 on the season. They'll return to Credit Union Place on TV Tuesday when they take on the Selkirk Steelers. Game time is 7:30pm and it marks the start of a three game home stand for the Kings ahead of the Christmas break.
