WAYWAYSEECAPPO, MB - The Dauphin Kings had a great final period and it helped them to a big two points in a 3-2 victory over the Waywayseecappo Wolverines.
Dauphin got better as the night went on. In the opening period the club gave up a 2-0 lead before the halfway point of the frame. Avery Smith (4) would begin the comeback for the Kings before the period was out, scoring with 43 seconds left.
In the second period things started to shift in favour of the Kings but neither teams was able to score, sending the affair to third with the Wolverines ahead 2-1.
The final period had the Kings controlling the play for the most part. After Bryon Fobair (3) tied things up on the man advantage Dauphin killed off a lengthy 5-on-3 and would eventually get their own power play and score on it when George King (5) tipped home the game winner on a Cole DeKoninck point shot. King now has goals in four straight games.
Brennan Kitchen was excellent in the second and third periods for the Kings, especially on the club's 5-on-3 disadvantage in the third. In the end he stopped 20 of 22 shots. His team fired 26 on the Wayway net.
Dauphin scored twice on the man advantage and were perfect on the penalty kill.
The victory puts the Kings at 8-5-0 on the season and bumps them up into a tie for second place in the MJHL standings.
