Flyers Soar Past Kings

WINKLER, MB - The Dauphin Kings fell behind in the opening period and couldn't recover in a 7-1 loss to the Winkler Flyers on Saturday night.

The Flyers came out strong in the first 20 minutes, scoring three goals and taking a 3-0 advantage into the intermission.

In the second period the Kings played better and Kyle Oleksiuk was rewarded on a nice pass from Jacob Evans to get his first of the season. Matthew Pitchenese drew the second assist on the Oleksiuk marker. The momentum was short lived for the Kings however as Winkler scored less than a minute after to go ahead 4-1.

The third period saw the Flyers pull away a little more with three goals, making the final score 7-1.

Albert Adamsen suffered the loss in his first MJHL start, he stopped 26 of the 33 shots he faced. The Kings did out shoot Winkler for most of the game, but a five minute man advantage at the end of the tilt allowed Winkler to pull ahead in the shots category. Dauphin finished with 28 shots.

Now the Kings get some much needed time off. The club finishes the month with 13 games played over a 27 day span, and that's not including the team's camp and intra squad games. September overall was Dauphin's busiest month of the season.

The Kings see their next action on Wednesday when they entertain the Portage Terriers at Credit Union Place to kick off a brief two game home stand. Game time on Wednesday is 7:30pm!
