Kings Triple Blues 6-2

DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings fell behind 1-0 in the second period, but it didn't phase them as they continued their scoring punch with a 6-2 victory over the Winnipeg Blues Saturday night at Credit Union Place.

Dauphin carried the play for most of the night, out shooting the Blues 47-25 when everything was said and done.

Baron Thompson (5,6) led the way for the Kings on Saturday night. The Minnesota product scored two goals and added two assists. Cole DeKoninck (4,5) wasn't far behind, he also scored twice for the Kings in the win. Other scorers Saturday night included Carter Sawchuk (7) and Parker Fofonoff (2). Local forward Andrew Liwiski had a two assist night on the back end and was named the game's third star.

Matthias Smith was solid in goal, picking up the 23 save victory for his club.

Both teams notched power play goals in the affair. The Kings ended the night 2 for 4 while Winnipeg finished 1 for 2.

It's the Kings' fourth win in five games and brings them to 5-6-0-1 on the MJHL campaign.

No rest for Dauphin though, the Kings will now head south to play the Portage Terriers Sunday evening. Game time is slated for 6:30pm at Stride Place. The Kings' next home game happens on Tuesday when they welcome the Virden Oil Capitals to Credit Union Place. Puck drop on TV Tuesday is 7:30pm!
