DAUPHIN, MB – A bad opening 20 minutes pushed the Kings to a 5-1 loss to the OCN Blizzard Tuesday night at Credit Union Place.
OCN scored four goals in the first period to pace themselves to the two points.
The second period was much better by the Kings, but the club was unable to score despite out shooting the Blizzard 15-8 in the middle frame.
Dauphin was able to get one by OCN netminder Brett Epp in the final period when Daniel Chartrand potted his sixth of the season on the Power Play. The goal by Chartrand matches his total in goals from last year.
When it came to Special Teams overall the Kings finished the night 1 for 7 on the Power Play and 3 for 4 on the Penalty Kill.
Dauphin and OCN traded the lead in shots throughout the night. When everything was said and done the Blizzard won that category though, out shooting the Kings 36-35.
Matteo Esposito (2-6) took the loss between the pipes after allowing four goals in the first. Brandon Holtby replaced him in the second and allowed just one OCN goal.
The Kings move to 7-18-4 on the season with the loss. They’ll play game five of their six game home stand on Friday when they welcome the Waywayseecappo Wolverines to Credit Union Place. It’s RAIN CHECK NIGHT so be sure to bring any unused season tickets to the contest as they will be valid! Opening face off is 7:30pm. It’ll also be your last chance to get Tractor Lotto Tickets with the draw happening on Saturday night!
