Ukrainian Night success

In front of a crowd of nearly 2000 on Saturday night, the Dauphin Kings defended home ice as they won Ukrainian Night.

Dauphin opened a 4-0 lead and they ended up with a 4-1 win at Credit Union Place.

Brayden Dube scored on the man advantage at 14:43 of the first to give the Kings a 1-0 lead.

Swan Valley put together a solid second period with 16 shots compared to Dauphin’s eight; however, no goals were scored in the frame as Dauphin took a 1-0 lead into the third.

Parker Malchuk scored twice in the third and Owen Wareham tallied one as the Kings went up 4-0 in the game. Cody Barnes would score his 20th of the season for Swan Valley, but it wasn’t close enough.

Carson Cherepak was solid for Dauphin as he made 33 saves. Dauphin ended up 2-for-8 on the powerplay while they were a perfect 7-for-7 on the penalty kill.

King Tips:

  • Dauphin won seven of their eight regular season meetings with Swan Valley this year
  • The Kings won their 21st game of the season on home ice this year and they’re now 21-5.
  • Dauphin needs a split in their final two games to earn 40 wins on the campaign

Next up for Dauphin is a home-and-home with the Winnipeg Freeze with Dauphin hosting Winnipeg on Tuesday and the Freeze host Dauphin on Thursday.

The Kings will open their playoffs later this month against Swan Valley.
