Kings Win Sixth Straight, Hammer Steelers 9-3

DAUPHIN, MB - For the second straight time on home ice the Dauphin Kings hammered the Selkirk Steelers, this time 9-3 at Credit Union Place.

The first two periods looked like the game was going to be a tight finish, but the Kings exploded for five third period goals Tuesday night.

In the first 20 it was the Steelers getting on the board first, just over four minutes in. The Kings would respond less than a minute later though, when Grady Hobbs (17) tallied his first of the night. Later in the frame Parker Fofonoff (3) would score off a won face off by Braeden Young.

The Kings would score twice in the middle frame and Selkirk got one to make it a 4-2 Dauphin lead. Brendan Arnold (4) tallied on a breakaway and Grady Hobbs (18) notched his second of the evening, going bar down (For the fans).

In the final frame Dauphin took over, scoring five and it was five different scorers doing so. First Carter Sawchuk (12) just 45 seconds in. Austin Lamotte (7) would make it 6-2. Nakodan Greyeyes got in on the action with his 17th of the campaign. Brayden Pawluk (1) scored his first as a Dauphin King to give his team an 8-3 advantage before Grady Hobbs (19) closed out the scoring with his hatrick goal!

Matthias Smith took another win between the pipes for the Kings. He steered aside 33 of 36 shots while his team had 47 shots on the Steelers net.

Power plays has Selkirk going 1 for 2 while Dauphin finished 0 for 2.

The win is the Kings' sixth in a row and puts them at 14-10-3-2 on the year. They're now bumped up to 6th place in the standings. One point back of Swan Valley for 5th and three behind Wayway for fourth.

Next up for Dauphin is a date with the Winnipeg Blues on Teddy Bear Toss Night at Credit Union Place on Friday! It's also hockey card night for the kids. It's a game you don't want to miss and it's sponsored by Nutter's and the Dauphin / Ste.Rose Vet Clinic! Game time is 7:30pm!
