SELKIRK, MB - The Dauphin Kings picked up another two critical points Saturday night in Selkirk, beating the Steelers 3-2 on the strength of two goals by Grady Hobbs.
In the opening period the Kings scored two quick goals. First it was Austin Lamotte (12) then Hobbs (29) tallied his first of the night. The Steelers would get on the board later in the frame to make it a 2-1 after 20.
The second period saw neither team score but Dauphin controlled most of the frame.
The third period continued to be all Kings but a bad change early on allowed Selkirk to walk in on an odd man rush and tie things up. In the second half of the period Grady Hobbs (30) would use his hero card to get the Kings the go ahead goal.
Levi Mitchell was very good between the pipes. He stopped 29 of 31 shots while his team fired 47 on the Selkirk net.
Dauphin wen't 0 for 3 on the man advantage Saturday while Selkirk ended the night 1 for 5.
The win is a big one for the Kings. In regulation Dauphin now moves three points up on Selkirk (8th) and find themselves three back of Virden (6th) and five behind Waywayseecappo (5th).
The Kings return home to Credit Union Place on Tuesday when they welcome the Winkler Flyers to town for another big game in the standings. The tilt is presented by RBC and don't forget it's TV TUESDAY! Game time is 7:30pm!
