Kings Hammer Winkler, Win Third Straight

DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings kicked off their three game home stand Tuesday night with an impressive 5-1 victory over the Winkler Flyers.

Despite a very flat opening five minutes, the Kings eventually woke up and took control of the game. First Brendan Arnold (8) tipped home a Carter Sawchuk wrist shot to start the scoring. Then Noah Wagner mixed in his 4th of the campaign to give the Kings a 2-0 advantage after 20 minutes.

The middle frame was all Kings. First Carter Sawchuk (19) scored just over a minute in. Then Brayden Pawluk (5) launched a rocket on the man advantage to put Dauphin ahead 4-0. Then Grady Hobbs (31) capped it off with a great wrist shot off the rush to put the Kings up 5-0 after the second.

In the third period things were mostly quiet. The Flyers were treated to a man advantage and scored on it to make it a 5-1 affair.

Levi Mitchell was again solid between the pipes. He turned away 37 of 38 shots. His team fired 35 on the Winkler net Tuesday.

Dauphin went 1 for 3 on the man advantage and 4 for 5 on the penalty kill.

The Kings have now won three straight and are 24-20-3-2. They're three points back of both the Virden Oil Capitals and Waywayseecappo Wolverines with two huge games on tap this weekend. Friday and Saturday the Kings host the Steinbach Pistons. The game on Friday is presented by Telus and Saturday's affair is presented by Dauphin Super 8! Both contests go at 7:30pm!
