Kings open week in Virden

Two of the hottest teams in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League will go head-to-head on Tuesday night.

The Dauphin Kings — winners of five of their last six games — go up against the Virden Oil Capitals, a team that has won 10 of their last 12 games since returning from the Christmas break.

Dauphin enters the game in first place alone in the MGEU West Division after a solid 5-2 win on Sunday in their best road performance of the season. Virden; meanwhile, enters the game in fifth place in the division, but they are just four points back of Dauphin.

Not long before Christmas, the Oil Capitals were at the bottom of the West and were struggling heavily, but they have turned things around dramatically and besides being just four points back of Dauphin for first, the team is just two points behind Waywayseecappo, Swan Valley, and OCN for second.

Virden has struggled offensively all season as their 130 goals are the second-fewest in the league, only ahead of the Winnipeg Freeze.

You can listen to Tuesday’s game on 730CKDM and you can also watch it on HockeyTV.
