Kings get swept, come up short on Saturday

The Dauphin Kings came into this weekend feeling great after they beat the Portage Terriers back on Tuesday.

However, Dauphin couldn’t carry that into this weekend. After a 5-1 loss in Neepawa, the Kings battled, but they came up short on Saturday as they were downed 2-1 against the Titans. Neepawa completed a weekend sweep and won four of six games against Dauphin this season.

In the first period, Dauphin got into some penalty trouble and the Titans capitalized as they scored two power play goals. They held a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes.

Myles Yearwood would score Dauphin’s Teddy Bear Goal in the second period; however, they couldn’t find the back of the net again. Dauphin ended up outshooting Neepawa, 30-17, on the night.

With the loss and a Swan Valley win, Dauphin is now third in the MGEU West Division. Neepawa; meanwhile, is just one point back of the final playoff spot.
