Wong & Wickham join Williment

It wasn’t the weekend the Dauphin Kings were hoping for as they dropped both of their contests against the Neepawa Titans. Still, the team is just four points back of OCN for first place in the West Division.

And as the team prepares for a set against Winkler, it’s time for another edition of the Parkland Source for Sports Three Stars of the Week. Ethan Williment created some great chances over the weekend and he’s the first star this week.

1st Star – Ethan Williment

He used his great speed to evade defenders and create chances on Friday and he finished the game with one assist. Then on Saturday, Williment once again used his speed and despite not cracking the stat sheet, Ethan looked strong.

Playing in just 22 games this year because of injury, Williment has scored twice while adding eight assists. Williment is a great teammate and he will continue to get better and create chances with the more experience he gets.

2nd Star: Nolan Wickham

It’s not always about points and in this case, it isn’t. Nolan didn’t record a point over the weekend, but he showed a great compete level and gave it his all.

Like Ethan, Nolan was on the team last year when they advanced to the national semifinal and he’s produced two goals and five assists this season.

3rd Star – Jonathon Wong

His biggest game as a King came on October 21 when Wong had two assists against Virden.

Back in the lineup on Saturday, Wong didn’t look out of place despite missing the last handful of games and he excelled, looking very solid defensively and he created some chances with his great speed up the ice.

From North Vancouver and at just 18 years old, the future is bright for Wong.

Honourable Mention – Myles Yearwood

His goal in Saturdays gave Dauphin some life. It was a beautiful shot and he’s now the newest Dauphin Kings Teddy Bear Man.

Season-long standings:

Five points are up for grabs for the first star each week, three points go for the second star and a single point is up for grabs for the third star
