Kings Fall To Winnipeg

DAUPHIN, MB – The Dauphin Kings fell behind early and couldn’t recover in a 5-1 loss to the Winnipeg Blues Friday night at Credit Union Place.

The Blues opened the scoring just under three minutes into the contest. The Kings would respond just past the halfway point of the period when Brendan Arnold grabbed his fourth of the season on a nice tip in front of the net. Colin MacDonald and Kyle Oleksiuk picked up assists on the scoring play. After that Winnipeg scored four unanswered to take the game. One in the second period and two more in the final frame.

Duncan McGovern suffered the loss in goal for Dauphin, turning aside 42 of 47 shots in the process while his team put 20 shots on the Winnipeg net.

Power Plays were heavily in favour of the Blues, they went 1 for 5 while the Kings had just one full man advantage and it came near the end of the game. They ended the evening 0 for 2.

With a Swan Valley shootout loss to Neepawa the Kings now slip to 10th in the MJHL Standings and are five points out of a playoff spot with four games left in their season. Dauphin will now get a week off before their next action which is Friday when they entertain the Steinbach Pistons. Game time is 7:30pm and the tilt is sponsored by Catalyst Credit Union!
