Kings Extend Hedley Through 2022-2023

DAUPHIN, MB - With Dauphin Kings season remaining on pause the club is happy to announce Thursday that they have extended Head Coach & GM Doug Hedley's contract through the 2022-2023 campaign.

Not including this year Hedley has a regular season record of 60-49-6-5 since returning to coach the club in 2018.

"Any time you get into a position like this you want to be able to get an opportunity to build something and I think we're moving in the right direction" said Hedley. "Last year with the playoffs being shortened it was tough and this season has been kind of an up and down year" he added.

Scott McCallum, Kings' Director of Hockey Operations, says it's nice to get this completed and have the hockey club continue moving forward.

"We can't signify enough how important Doug is to our team. We hired him at a crucial time for the organization. Doug's come in and done a tremendous job of changing the culture, changing the wins and losses and recruiting some very good hockey players to come here and play in our community. We're excited to lock him up for another two years" said McCallum.

The Kings' season remains on pause but the team and the rest of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League are optimistic about things resuming in the near future. Dauphin's record at the break was 3-3-0-0 through six games. Most of the MJHL had played more games than the Kings at the time of the stoppage.
