VIRDEN, MB - The Dauphin Kings were missing a few key pieces in their lineup and it showed Saturday in a 5-0 loss to the Virden Oil Capitals.
Dauphin couldn't really get much going when it came to goals and after falling behind in the opening period they couldn't get back into the contest. Virden scored two goals in the first and second and added one more in the third to take the tilt.
Brady Weiss suffered the loss between the pipes. He had a lot of work, making 43 saves on 48 shots. His counterpart Riley McVeigh stopped all 31 shots he face for the win.
The result was the final one of the Kings pre season, putting their record at 4-4-0.
Now Dauphin gets a week off before kicking things off for real on Friday in Virden against the Oil Capitals. After the season opener on Friday in Virden the clubs will face off again in Dauphin on Saturday for the Dauphin Clinic Pharmacy Kings Home Opener.
Check back Monday for updates on the DCP Home Opener as well as a schedule for Saturday's alumni games and much more!
