DAUPHIN, MB - Former Dauphin Kings goaltender Brandon Holtby is taking his hockey career to the next level.
The goaltender, who graduated following the 2016-17 MJHL season, will play for the University of Regina Cougars this season (USports).
Holtby was arguably one of the best goaltenders in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League from January on last season. In 40 contests the 20 year old put up a 3.13 goals against average and a .916 save percentage.
"It's an amazing feeling being able to join my home town team, being able to represent the university that I've grown up around. We have a great group of guys, people I grew up playing hockey with as well as super talented players. We have something special here in Regina for sure" says Holtby.
"I'll always remember the people I met in Dauphin, whether it be billets, teammates, coaches, co-workers or fans. Dauphin has an amazing community and will be a place I remember for the rest of my life."
"We couldn't be happier for Brandon, this is an example of good things happening to good people. Holts was tremendous for us last season, our team MVP and this will be a great next step for him" says Kings Head Coach and GM Marc Berry.
