Inauguration Day

DAUPHIN, MB – Keaton Leininger led the way with three goals as American born players notched five points to pace the Kings to a 6-0 shut out over the Neepawa Natives Friday night at Credit Union Place.

Brandon Holtby (8-16) was the other shining star Friday for the Kings, stopping all 35 shots for his second straight shut out at home. The Kings have yet to allow a goal against on home ice in 2017.

Other scorers for the Kings Friday were Ian Briscoe (2), Grady Hobbs (5) and Darren Gisti (3). Leininger (3G, 0A), Gisti (1G, 2A), Riese Gaber (0G, 2A), Hobbs (1G, 1A) all had multi point nights for Dauphin.

Special Teams saw the Kings come out on top. Dauphin scored four Power Play goals and killed all Neepawa man advantages, including a nine minute chance in the third period.

The victory pulls the Kings within four points of the Swan Valley Stampeders for the final playoff spot in the MJHL. Dauphin is also now two points up on Neepawa in ninth place. The Natives, however, have three games in hand.

Dauphin will now take part in their Parent & Pride Gala night Saturday evening in Dauphin. The Kings return to action Tuesday when they welcome the OCN Blizzard to Credit Union Place for the final time this season. Game time is 7:30pm and the sponsor is the Dauphin Super 8!
