THE PAS, MB - It was a back and forth affair but the Dauphin Kings couldn't quite keep pace in a 7-4 loss to the OCN Blizzard Wednesday night.
The Kings played well in the affair, but they just couldn't finish on a number of quality scoring chances.
The opening period saw Dauphin draw first blood when Kyle Oleksiuk picked up his 13th of the season. It was overall a good game for Oleksiuk who scored two and had some other good chances. Before the end of the frame the Blizzard would even things up at one.
The middle frame was more of the same, the Kings snagged the lead just 11 seconds in when Grady Hobbs tallied his 7th of the campaign. The Blizzard would score two later on to go up 3-2 before Oleksiuk grabbed his 14th off a nice setup from Ian Briscoe.
Briscoe would be the final player to score for the Kings Wednesday, after OCN pulled away late in the second to make it 5-3 and then 6-3 early in the final period the Winnipeg forward notched his 5th on the man advantage.
Brennan Kitchen started the game for the Kings but was replaced by Justin Anderson after five goals against. Kitchen made 28 saves on 33 shots while Anderson turned aside 15 of 16. Dauphin fired 38 on the OCN net Wednesday.
Power Plays saw the Kings end the night 1 for 3 while OCN was 1 for 4.
The loss puts Dauphin at 13-38-2 on the season. Their next action comes Saturday when they welcome the Steinbach Pistons to Credit Union Place. Game time is 7:30pm!
