DAUPHIN, MB - Goaltender Levi Mitchell is the latest Dauphin King to advance his hockey career to the next level.
Mitchell has committed to the Salve Regina University Hockey Program (NCAA DIV III) for the 2020-21 season.
Mitchell spent the second half of the 2019-20 season with the Kings after being acquired just before the Trade Deadline in January.
The Alberta product was excellent in his time with the Kings, putting up a 12-4 record during the season with a 2.75 Goals Against Average and a .912 Save Percentage.
"It feels great to have the future sorted. It’s a relief to know where I can continue my hockey career" says Mitchell. "Salve Regina is an amazing school and Newport is going to be a great place to live for the next 4 years. It’s right next to the Atlantic Ocean so it will be an adjustment from Manitoba! I have a couple of friends that are going to play hockey there so it’s a locker room I can fit into" he added.
Mitchell will look to a few areas when it comes to his schooling down south.
"I plan on taking Business and see where that can take me. I also have interests in History, English and Environmental Studies!"
Although his time in Dauphin was short. Levi Mitchell says he had a great time in the city both on and off the ice.
"I enjoyed my frequent visits to Corinna’s for team breakfast. On top of that, I loved the community of Dauphin and how welcoming they were to me. The town supports the Kings very well and help the players feel at home" he says. "I’d like to add in how thankful I am for the Kings welcoming me inside the dressing room and in the community. And a special thanks to the Swanton’s for billeting me" Mitchell added.
Look forward to the upcoming weeks from the Dauphin Kings as the club will be making a number of significant announcements including details on a new date for the Par 3 Extravaganza and player signings!
