Parkland rivals meet again

For the first time since January 9, the Dauphin Kings will hit the ice in a game. Following a pair of postponements last weekend, Dauphin will play a rare mid-week game against the Swan Valley Stampeders at the Centennial Arena.

It’s the fifth meeting of the season between the two clubs and it has been all Dauphin so far as they’ve won four straight. That includes a 2-1 shootout win in Swan River before Christmas. Dauphin enters the game on a mini slide, having lost their past two games while the Stampeders are trending upwards having won three of their last four games including an impressive sweep this past weekend against Steinbach. In Friday’s game, they were down 4-0 before earning a 5-4 win.

Dauphin leads the West Division by a single point heading into the contest and they also have one game in hand on Waywayseecappo which will be made up in Swan River. Dauphin is three points behind Steinbach for first place in the league.

Swan Valley; meanwhile, is currently third place in the West Division and could open up a little bit of space with two points, they’re just one point ahead of Virden and Neepawa for third place. You can hear the game with Darnell Duff on 730CKDM beginning with the pregame show at 6:45.

The game will also mark Logan Calder’s first game with the organization. Aidan Brook and Nakodan Greyeyes have played with the team in the past but will be playing their first games with the team this season. All are figured to make a big difference for the club, offensively and defensively.
