Oil Caps Trip Up Kings

DAUPHIN, MB - A bad third period did the Dauphin Kings in for their first loss in over two weeks, a 4-2 decision to the Virden Oil Capitals Saturday night for Ukrainian Night.

Dauphin's first period was also a difficult one. Despite out shooting Virden 14-3 in the opening 20 the Kings found themselves down 2-0.

Cayden Glover would help Dauphin claw their way back to even terms in the second period with two goals. His 32nd of the season was off a nice tip in front while his second of the night and 33rd of the campaign was off a one timer on the man advantage. Dauphin would go into the third period tied 2-2.

The third period was a flat one for the Kings. They failed to generate many chances and a couple mistakes ended up in the back of their nets. Dauphin would make a push late but ended up falling short 4-2.

Cole Sheffield took the loss between the pipes, stopping 18 of 24 shots while his team fired 39 on the Virden goal.

Dauphin ended the night 1 for 6 on the Power Play and 1 for 1 on the Penalty Kill.

The loss moves the Kings to 26-10-1-0 on the year. They'll now get a week off before their next game action as the league pauses for their annual Showcase with the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League, it runs from January 27th to the 29th in Winnipeg.
