Kings vs Terriers, season series finale

The Dauphin Kings are playing the way that is needed at the perfect time.

After a seven-goal performance and a huge win on Friday against the Portage Terriers, Dauphin returns to the friendly confines of Credit Union Place on Saturday for a rematch with Portage.

Dauphin enters the night on a three-game winning streak — all of which came on the road — and Dauphin has won all three of games against Portage this year.

The Kings have opened up a three-point gap ahead of Waywayseecappo for the fourth and final playoff spot and they remain the same amount of points behind both OCN and Virden. The Wolverines play the Blues on Saturday night.

Alex Senf had his biggest game as a King on Friday as he scored twice while adding three assists.

A key to success for Dauphin is certainly staying out of the penalty box. Led by Ryan Botterill who has scored 43 goals, the Terriers are lethal on the power play and they showed it on Friday by scoring three times.

Portage will also get Hayden Lacquette back after he served a one-game suspension.

Player to Watch – Dauphin – Alex Senf

It was a career night for the 19-year-old on Friday as he lit up the Terriers. Alex plays a hard nosed game and while he lacks the size that some do in the league, Senf plays with great passion and isn’t worried that he’s smaller than some.

He’s continually come up clutch for the Kings and he did once again on Friday. Going to the net is his specialty and he yields great success by doing so.

2022-23 Stats: 19 goals, 18 assists

Player to Watch – Portage – Hayden Lacquette

He’s back after serving a one-game suspension and Hayden Lacquette is without a doubt, one of the stars in the league.

Playing on the back end, Lacquette plays a very stylish type of game and his skill is through the roof. He can pass, he can score, and he loves to play a physical brand of hockey. Lacquette makes this Portage offense that much more potent.

2022-23 Stats: 15 goals, 39 assists
