Kings head south for big battle

One night after they put up a six-spot and earned two big points against the Steinbach Pistons, the Dauphin Kings will look for a weekend sweep.

On the road Saturday evening in the Automobile City, it is the fourth and final meeting between the two clubs in the regular season. Dauphin has won both games at Credit Union Place. Their lone loss against Steinbach this year came at the TG Smith Centre back in October.

Dauphin has now jumped into a tie for first place in the West Division as the battle for playoff spots continues to intensify in the heated MGEU West Division.

Dauphin will be looking to secure their 10th road win of the season while Steinbach has been dominant on home ice as they have won 19 of their 23 games at the TG Smith Centre.

Players to Watch:

Dauphin – Myles Yearwood

Myles possesses the explosiveness that not many do in this league and it was on full display Friday night. He scored one goal and created many other chances with his blistering speed.

There aren’t many players in the league that can beat Myles in a foot race and he also has great hands which allows him to be very creative and he has a great shot to boot. Yet to reach his full potential, Yearwood will be a dominant threat if he continues to play as he did on Friday night.

Myles has nine goals and five assists heading into the evening

Steinbach – Travis Hensrud

Travis has it all and that’s why he is already committed to play Division 1 hockey next season.

He has speed and a wicked shot that Dauphin fans saw on Friday night when he scored. Whenever Travis is on the ice, he seems to be making something happen and he is a lot to handle.

Dauphin did a very good job of containing him until he turned things up in the third period and if the Kings wish to have success on Saturday, they will need to once again slow him down… which is easier said than done.

You can listen to Saturday’s game on 730CKDM with Darnell Duff and you can also watch it on HockeyTV.
