DAUPHIN, MB - The start wasn't great, but it's the finish that counts and that was the case Tuesday for the Dauphin Kings as they came back to beat the OCN Blizzard 5-4 at Credit Union Place.
The Kings spotted OCN a 3-1 advantage after 40 minutes in Dauphin. Bryon Fobair (15) ended up with the lone Kings goal in the middle frame.
The third period saw the Kings figure things out. First Grady Hobbs (14) treated the fans to a knee high tally making it 3-2 with 15 minutes to play. Then Brendan Arnold mixed in his 7th of the campaign to tie things up at three with six minutes left. Then with just under four to go Riley Buller fired in his 14th of the season. Andrew Liwiski would score his 4th to make it 5-3 with less than three minutes to go.
The Blizzard would notch a goal about 15 seconds after the Kings made it 5-3, but Dauphin held on for the victory.
Both teams scored on the man advantage Tuesday night. Dauphin was 1 for 4 while OCN was 1 for 3.
Bryan Landsberger took the win between the pipes for the Kings. He turned aside 34 of 38 shots while his team fired 49 on the OCN net.
The win improves the Kings to 28-24-6 on the season. With a 5-2 Wayway loss to Winnipeg on Tuesday Dauphin pulls three points ahead of the Wolverines for 7th in the standings.
The Kings next game is their final home contest of the regular season. It goes Thursday at Credit Union Place when they face the Neepawa Natives. Puck drop is 7:30pm!
