COOPER TO ST. SCHOLASTICA

The Dauphin Kings are proud to announce graduating defenceman Ryan Cooper has committed to the St. Scholastica Saints NCAA Div III.

Cooper, who hails from New Westminister, BC, came to the Kings in a trade with the Weyburn Redwings at the end of November. In 33 regular season games Cooper collected 2 goals and 15 assists for 17 points. In the playoffs Cooper was solid. He put up 6 points in 13 MJHL playoff games and logged major minutes on the Kings blue line.

Cooper excelled as the games got bigger. At the Western Canada Cup, Cooper had 4 points in 6 games helping the Kings advance to the RBC Cup in Vernon. At the RBC Cup Cooper was matched up against some of the best in the country. The 6’1”, 195 lb rear guard continued his strong play on the defensive side of the puck and chipped in with 2 assist in 5 games.

“We’re very happy for Coops.” said Kings AC Marc Berry. “He plays the game the way it should be played. He does everything hard and a top speed. He’s tough to play against and he practises as hard as he plays. Coops will do very well at the next level and beyond.”

“It was a great opportunity to be a King and apart of the Kings organization.” stated Cooper. “Dauphin was a great place to play and I gained a brotherhood that will last a life time. Thank you to all the family I gained along the way and to Coach Murray and  Coach Berry for help shaping me into the player I am now!”

The Dauphin Kings would like to thank Ryan for his time in a Kings jersey and wish him the best of luck in his future at St. Scholastica.
