Captain Malchuk joined by Dube and Cherepak

He’s the team’s captain and you can just tell that Parker Malchuk is as dialed in as he has been since joining the Kings.

The 20-year-old from Birtle continues to put together an excellent season and he was recently named the league’s top defenceman in the regular season and he was also named to the league’s first all-star team.

Over the weekend in a sweep against Swan Valley, Malchuk came to play. On Friday in a 7-3 win on Friday night, Parker had one assist as Dauphin secured their 38th win of the season. Then one day later, Parker scored twice in a 4-1 win on Ukrainian Night. Parker now has 11 goals this season to go along with his 32 assists.

His performance has earned him the first star in the Parkland Source for Sports Three Stars of the Week.

Second Star:

Cool, calm and collected, that’s Carson Cherepak in net. Continuing to be a brick wall in net, Carson was solid over the weekend as he improved to 29-7 on the season.

He opened the night by making 29 saves and one night later, the goaltender of the year turned away 33 shots in a 4-1 win. Carson is tied for the league-lead in shutouts with six and his .923 save percentage to go along with his 2.16 goals-against average is right near the top of the league.

After missing some action with an upper-body injury and an illness, Carson is playing great hockey and he’ll look to keep it going into this week and the playoffs.

Third Star:

He’s just 16-years-old but when he has the puck on his stick and some room, it’s tough on any goalie to make a save. From Roblin, Brayden Dube was a runner-up for the rookie of the year award but despite not winning the award, he isn’t letting that stop him.

Dube seems to have taken his game to the next level and his 42 points are the fifth-most on the team. With 22 goals and 20 assists, Dube is proving that he’s going to be a serious threat for years to come.

He scored a gorgeous goal on Saturday and he also scored once on Friday night.
