Yearwood, Gibbs & Belak make top three

Ahead of a busy week for the Dauphin Kings, Myles Yearwood is the first star in this week’s Parkland Source for Sports Three Stars of the Week.

1st Star: Myles Yearwood

Dauphin played just one game last week and it was a positive result.

On home ice against the Winnipeg Freeze, Yearwood scored once and added one assist. The goal was Yearwood’s third as a King. Myles’ ability to pair his size with great skating ability allows him the chance to create many scoring opportunities.

2nd Star: Rylan Gibbs

His chemistry with Carter Zalischuk at the junior level only continues to blossom. That was evident on Friday when Gibbs took a beautiful pass from his fellow hometown favourite. Rylan did the rest as he scored his fifth goal of the season.

Like Yearwood, Gibbs has excellent speed and it’s that speed that will make him a dangerous player for many years moving forward.

3rd Star: Marko Belak

It was a save that will go into the highlight reels. It was while Dauphin was a man down against the Freeze and the Kings led by one.

Marko’s size and great movement allowed him to slide across the crease to make an outstanding save.

In six games, Belak has a .912 save percentage to go along with a 2.48 goals-against average.

Season-long standings:

Five points are up for grabs for the first star each week, three points go for the second star and a single point is up for grabs for the third star

After week 10:
