Yaschyshyn, Kings Ground Flyers In Winkler

DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings got strong goaltending and timely scoring to close out their three game road swing with a 2-1 win in Winkler Sunday night.

The first period had the Kings gaining their first lead of the weekend as the Winkler Flyers got into penalty trouble early. Gavin Nemis (11) would tally off a snap shot on the Power Play at 9:29 of the period. Overall the Kings showed much better in the first period, it was easily the best opening 20 minutes of the weekend for Dauphin. They'd take the 1-0 advantage to the middle frame.

In the second the Kings immediately started on the Penalty Kill for four minutes after Ethan Stewart took a four minute high sticking penalty. Dauphin's PK was masterful through that stretch which also saw the Flyers with a brief 5-on-3. Winkler would go on to tie things up at the midway point of the period. After the Kings would get their own man advantage and score on it. Ethan Stewart in the slot would knock home his seventh of the season. After that the period concluded due to ice issues.

The final frame was just over 27 minutes long. A tough stretch for two teams that were playing their third game in as many nights. Nonetheless in the third period the Kings

Morden's Bryson Yaschyshyn started in goal for Dauphin Sunday night and was spectacular in the win. He made 34 saves for the Kings. His team had 30 shots on the Winkler goal.

The Kings Special Teams have rebounded after a sluggish start to the weekend. They were 2 for 7 on the Power Play and 6 for 6 on the Penalty Kill.
