Wolverines Edge Kings In Final Pre Season Game

DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings out played the Wayway Wolverines Friday night but it wasn't enough in a 3-2 loss at Credit Union Place.

Wayway jumped out to an early 2-0 lead with goals in the opening period, but it was Dauphin who had the edge in shots 9-8.

In the second period the Kings came alive, out playing and out shooting the Wolverines again. They were rewarded when Nakodan Greyeyes tallied on a breakaway opportunity midway through the frame. Dauphin out shot Wayway 17-9 in the second period.

The third period saw the Kings continue to out play the Wolverines, but Wayway scored early in the frame with net minder Isaac Lebelle standing tall and being one of the key reasons the Wolverines were able to secure the win.

The Kings out shot Wayway 30-24 in the contest. Brennan Kitchen played the whole game for Dauphin, the first goalie to go a full 60 minutes for the Kings in the pre season.

Next up for Dauphin is over a week off. The team will now trim their roster and get set for the Dauphin Clinic Pharmacy Home Opener which happens Saturday September 22nd at Credit Union Place. It also marks the start of the team's 51st MJHL season. Game time is 7:30pm!
