Logan Walker put together an outstanding weekend to open 2023 and he’s the first star in this week’s Parkland Source for Sports Three Stars of the Week.
Logan Walker:
After posting four points to start the season with the Estevan Bruins, Walker has become one of the top point producers with his new team.
In two games over the weekend against Winnipeg, Walker came to play in a big way as he posted two goals on Friday. Then on Saturday, Walker — who was just coming out of the penalty box a short time prior — marched into Winnipeg’s zone and sniped a beautiful shot past Jackson McLeod for his fifth of the season and the goal gave the Kings at least a point. Ultimately, Dauphin completed the comeback.
Walker has five goals and two assists in just nine games with Dauphin and he will look to keep it going on Wednesday when the team plays a big game against Swan Valley.
Alex Senf:
It doesn’t matter if Dauphin is up 4-0 or down 4-0 or anywhere in between, Alex Senf never takes a shift off. A relentless worker, Senf creates opportunities for himself by winning battles and he has become one of the team’s top faceoff takers.
Then on Saturday, Senf capped off Dauphin’s huge comeback. Winning a race towards the net, Senf was denied on his first shot, but he stuck with it and potted the rebound as he recorded his 12th goal of the season to give Dauphin a 6-5 thrilling win.
Quietly going about his business, Senf has four goals and four assists in his last 10 games and 24 points in 32 games with Dauphin this season.
Matthew Gough:
The 20-year-old appears to have taken his game to the next level. Using his great speed, Gough continues to produce often for Dauphin as he had another solid weekend.
Gough scored his 14th and 15th goals of the season on Saturday in Dauphin’s 6-5 win to go along with one assist and he also scored a goal in the team’s defeat on Friday.
With 31 points this season, Gough has posted a career-high in points.
